At Grampian Primary School, we believe that every child should feel valued, respected and able to participate fully in school life.

Inclusion and safeguarding are central to everything we do. We are committed to creating a school where children feel safe, supported and successful, regardless of their starting points, needs or circumstances.

We recognise that every child is unique. Some children may need additional support at different points in their journey and our role is to work alongside families, staff and external professionals to identify and remove barriers so that every child can thrive.

What Do We Mean by Inclusion?

Inclusion is the process of ensuring that every child is valued, respected and able to engage in school life as a member of the school community. It requires us to identify and remove barriers that may prevent a child from learning, participating and thriving. Inclusion is not a place, a provision or a timetable. Rather, it is the extent to which a child is able to experience school as a valued and active member of the community.

A Whole-School Approach

Inclusion and safeguarding are not the responsibility of one person or one team. They are woven through every aspect of school life.

From the classroom to the playground, from attendance support to family support, we work together to create an environment where children feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

Supporting Children and Families

Our Inclusion and Safeguarding Teams work closely with children, families and external agencies to provide support in a wide range of areas, including:

• SEND and inclusion
• Safeguarding and child protection
• Attendance and welfare
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Family support and Early Help
• Online safety
• Stopping Domestic Abuse Together (SDAT)
• Working with external professionals and support services

We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential in helping children flourish.
